Just about anyone may compete.
There is no entry fee charged.
Courses are designed to be no more physically challenging than walking the dog.
All required equipment is provided, as are instructional handouts for "new-bees".

Competitions are hosted by beekeeper groups, and they may limit participation to those who register and pay a fee to attend the meeting, so when in doubt, ask.

Most venues will include a "practice area" where one can try one's hand at bee-lining before competing.
